Three Murdered Girls

Michelle Malkin is picking up on the story of three murdered Christian schoolgirls in this post.

Even the Pope is denouncing the barbarism in this article. Not that he is ever for it, but I do not recall reading about the Pope denouncing a specific barbarous act as he has this one.

In this day of random terrorist violence, it is easy to get hardened to reading of such things. What is it about the murder of three girls that has drawn more than the usual attention for such an atrocity?

And why did this one bother me in a way that so many other have not?

I think there is something about the fact that few things in the world are seen as more innocent than schoolgirls on their way somewhere together. Only babies or old people perhaps are considered more innocent and vulnerable. A moments reflection on the terror experienced by those girls makes my blood run even colder than usual against these Jihadis.

They fulfill the words of this Bible verse:
2 Peter 2:12 (New American Standard Bible) But these, like unreasoning animals, born as creatures of instinct to be captured and killed, reviling where they have no knowledge, will in the destruction of those creatures also be destroyed.
One can only hope so.
