America Needs More Cowbell

Christopher Walken in 2008? Seems that this web site is promoting one of our most beloved actors into the race in 2008. Perhaps they can call it the Cowbell Ticket.

UPDATE: I emailed Michael about this post, and based on what he wrote back to me, I wanted to add this link to a WMV that explains the cowbell poster. The “cowbell” thing is from a Saturday Night Live hosting gig Walken did several years ago. In the skit, Walken plays a famous record producer named Bruce Dickenson who was working with the band Blue Oyster Cult during the recording of their hit song “Don’t Fear The Reaper.”

The song has tons of cowbell in it, and the (over) use of cowbell in the song is considered one of the worst record-producing decisions in rock history.

UPDATE2: Welcome Instapundit readers! And thanks to Michael for the link. Please check out my "greatest hits" section for more fun stuff.

UPDATE3: TaylorHQ writes "In truth, most rock fans are surprised to learn that there actually is a cowbell on "Don't Fear The Reaper." The joke behind the skit is that the song seems like the least likely candidate to ever have a producer insist on adding cowbell to the mix. You might want to finesse that latest post, if only because right-wingers already have a hard enough time convincing people they know anything about rock music."

The comment I made above about "tons of cowbell" was based upon someone's review of the SNL skit. I do not remember where I read it, or I would post a link. By the way, I first saw the poster on Fark.com. Update: If anyone knows who originally Photoshopped the poster I will be more than happy to give credit where credit is due--but for now the best I can say is, I did not do the Photoshop.

A joke, obviously, and not a very good one. Walken is suffering from Alzheimer's.

This has got to be a hoax.

FYI: A quick WhoIs search shows the site to be registered by a guy in Florida.

Now we need a poster using that fine character, Colonel Angus, performed by Walken.

The ladies all love Colonel Angus, don't they?

Hey now, I'm a right winger and I got the reference instantly.

As for it being a hoax or not, I hope to god it's not.

I wouldn't vote for him, but it would make the 2008 presidential race entertaining to say the least.

It would be evenb better if he picked Gary Busey as a running mate :)
